After being admitted to the Victorian Bar and working as a barrister in Melbourne from 1990-1992, I worked as a legal adviser to asylum-seekers in Port Hedland (Western Australia) in 1992, as a locum practitioner with the Central Australian Aboriginal Legal Aid Service in Alice Springs (Northern Territory) in 1993, then as Coordinator of the Refugee Advice and Casework Service in Sydney in 1994.
From 1995-1998 I was a Senior Legal Officer with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission in Sydney.
I was admitted to the New South Wales Bar and commenced practice as a barrister in Sydney from July 1998.
In 2012 I was listed in the Immigration category of the Australian Financial Review "Best Lawyers in Australia".
I am the current ongoing author of the Judicial Review commentary in the LexisNexis Australian Immigration Law service.
I also work on a casual basis as a Clinical Legal Practitioner in the Practical Legal Training Program at the University of Technology Sydney, where I teach Legal and Professional Skills and Ethics and Professional Conduct.
